Of course with Cyril dying of his wounds at a General Hospital in Etaples it is impossible without his Army records to be sure where or when he was wounded. Certainly it is very likely he was wounded combating the German Spring Offensive, the Kaiserschlacht. The 9th LNL were in the 74th Brigade at the time and had been part of the Battle of Estaires. 9-11 Apr 1918, including the first defence of Givenchy.
In June 1918 the 9th Battalion formed a composite battalion with the 8th Border Regiment and were transferred to 50th (Northumbrian) division. On 12th August 1918 the 9th Battalion were disbanded.
